The Art of Noticing
A manifesto for paying attention.
I believe the world becomes larger when I pay closer attention to it.
I choose curiosity before perfection.
The most meaningful moments rarely announce themselves. I would rather remain open than wait for ideal conditions.
I let the experience come first.
The photograph matters, but it is not the reason to hurry through a place. Presence is not a delay; it is the point.
I look beyond the famous view.
California is more than its landmarks. It is fog, backroads, working towns, oak hills, shorelines, insects, rivers, forests, and lives unfolding between destinations.
I treat small lives as worthy of attention.
A caterpillar, a bee, a weathered tree, or a flower in an overlooked corner can carry an entire story.
I try to leave places—and people—better than I found them.
Sometimes that means picking up litter. Sometimes it means holding a door. Care does not need to be dramatic to matter.
I share beauty as an invitation.
Not to say, “Look what I saw,” but to ask, “What might you notice next?”
Create the kind of work that reminds people the world is still worth paying attention to.
